XP or Vista

I also wonder if it wouldn't be a good idea for all of us at anytime we speak about Hoster functions if we also include "XP" or "Vista" as the first or last word with the message.

'm starting to get confused about what works on which now.

Just an idea.

I though that's what our signature area was for?

Billyo, I ran a TEST show after installing 4.05 on VISTA with no problems. Tonight is a live show. Keep fingers crossed and say a little prayer.

A lot of ppl don't use it though.
And, look at goonies (no offense to him, however) signature. Can you really tell which machine is which system (assume 3 Gb = Vista maybe), but on the Dell??
And even if that was clear, ppl do not always say which computer listed below they were referring to when speaking about an issue.

Right on Bryant. I think the signature area is a good place to put this info and was making the suggestion by asking a question. Why don't you show us how you feel it should be done? This may help get the ball rolling.

Well, I think its more along the lines of ppl simply saying right from the start "ON MY XP MACHINE", then blah, blah, blah. I say that because many of us are not always talking about the machine that's in the signature or have three or more in the signature but do not refer to ahich one they are having that particular issue with.
And it seems like someone always has to ask.

So my answer is: in the topic title, or; the first line above the the paragraph that speaks about the issue
print "ON MY XP OR VISTA MACHINE" , then start the paragraph that discusses the issue. Doing this, there will never be any question about which system is being referred to. My Dj forum, has a separate place to go to to discuss the two different versions.

OK, I ran my show Wed. Night and I could not get sync right in 4.05 (Vista). I tried everything that I read in the forum. Only good thing about wed. show, is that it is just me singing to the Veterans and I could over come this obstecal. 3.4 was not in sync either. I had to do System restore to go back to 4.03. I will stay with that version until 4.10 comes out or I can afford another computer with XP. And to all of MTU's programmers and Admin. Hats off to all of you. All the crap that we send back to you on the problems Vista has caused must be a real pain for you all. I am comfortable running 4.03. I applaude you and thanks.

This is your perogative, but since most of the problems turn out to be computer/operating system setup that causes it, then you may be waiting a long time to upgrade.

All this matters!

Doesn't matter what Windows I'm using I am having the same result.

I have two computers upgraded to Hoster 4 one XP sp 3, as adviced by MTU, and one Vista Ultimate 32.

Yes, it does matter! XP & Vista have different requirements prior to installing Hoster. You also didn't mention which Hoster 4 version - there are 5 updates. It also matters if you upgraded from 3.x (which one) directly to 4.05 or if it was a new install. It also matters whether you did the computer updates before or after you installed Hoster, and if you followed ALL of MTU's recommendations

Most people seem to be doing well with 4.05 on both Vista & XP. Others, including myself, find that 4.03 is working without any problems on Vista, while my 6-year old HP-XP, with lots of other programs installed and only 512 RAM, will run 4.05.

You must take everything into consideration before making a general statement that Hoster just doesn't work

What I meant with "it doesn't matter" is that I have both of the OS with the same result Vista is running Hoster 4.05 and XP is running 4.03. This is not a general statement since it does not matter which one I use I have the same results. What it really matters is that Hoster 4 is affecting the quality of my shows.
