Question 4.06 Demo question

I received an email from MTU encouraging me to download and try out the Demo version of Hoster 4.06. I did, and when I started it up it asked if I wanted to convert all my hdzip files. I said no. It built the database and then I tried a song or two- it seemed to run fine on Vista. I guess my question is- if I had allowed the conversion of my files, would they still be functional with my current version of Hoster (3.321)?

Yes, they would.

What you are seeing is preparation for the future. If you choose yes, the files will merely be "unzipped" and saved as MP3+G inside the KMA file. The problem with zip files is the multitude of formats and the time it takes to unzip them every time you play them. In future versions of Hoster we will see cross-fading, tempo change, and other "goodies" that are complicated by the zip format. Go ahead and choose yes, it will not hurt your files. From this point on, when you import, the files will automatically be unzipped as you import.
