Question no sound

I have a twin head laptop w/ 3.321. I started my show last night and the sound was barely audible.
What happened?

Check the volume level in windows audio properties. I used to get this occasionally for some unknown reason. Open Hoster then open audio properties. Set it to where you want it and also check the box to make the little icon appear in the taskbar. Then close Hoster and it should save your settings. I got in the habit of just checking it real quick before I started a show. This problem has gone away in the new version.

I checked all the settings in windows. they are all set to max volume. I don't see a audio properties in the hoster program. Am I overlooking something?

Are the "Music" and "Main" volume controls in Hoster up?

Oops. wrong version of Hoster.

Have you checked all of your cables going to the mixer?

Jim

(Thanks again Mark, I move too fast sometimes.)

Do you have the speaker icon in the bottom left? You need to do this with Hoster open. It saves your settings and changes them back when you open Hoster. Even though you may have checked audio properties, you need to do it with Hoster open.

My speaker icon is bottom right and the volume is max and not muted. I used the cables with my cd player to do the show so I know they are good. I just checked and I get no sound from the built in speakers in the laptop. Could the sound card have gone south?

Run an mp3 from windows media player or some other sound program and see how it sounds. Your CD player is hard wired into your sound card so It may not be effected by how a program accesses the card. Lets see how other programs do.

Thanks

Jim

I'm sure you did, but you didn't mention it specificly so I'll ask: Did you check the Wave setting? Some programs that take control of this may not put it back where they found it.

Double click on the speaker icon and check your WAV and CD volume levels as well. They have to be up as well as the main volume.
Check on the laptop manufacturer's web site for updated drivers for your sound card. It could be that it got corrupted (I have one that did that) or it is out dated.

All the volume settings are max. I did a restore system to no avail. My sound card is a Sigma tel c-major. Sigma tel's web sire goes to a company called Freescsale and I cannot find any driver updates on this site. What else can I try?

It is a Twin Head I bought from MTU but I cannot find a web site for them, just distributors and batteries.
