Hoster 4.02 constantly crashing

Installed Hoster 4.02 yesterday, Hoster fround over 250 bad zip files which I deleted. Hoster keeps crashing for various reasons such as just normal playback. Sometimes it will crash if I hit the skip button then try to play the next song. There does not seem to be any specific reason, seems to be more random. Right now I have 13 songs qued up and set on auto, it might crash on the first song or the third song. I just cannot pinpoint any one thing.
Running Visa
Dell 1720 Laptop

Unhappy 4.02 crashing with vista

i am having the same problem with random crashing
also is there a screen resolution that should be set for 4.02
i seem to have less problems if both displays are set to 1024x768
my toshiba laptops default setting is 1400x900 but if i leave it set to this then the name display does not show up on the screen
also lyrics are running out of sync randomly and usually corrects itself if i restart the song

Did you try 4.01 before this or are you upgrading to 4.02 from a version 3?
Do you have SP1 installed for Vista?
Have you done the Custom updates to see if you are missing any? You do have to check this once in a while.
Instead of hitting the Skip to go to the next song just click on the next song and click play. That is the way it is set up to work now.

James, Hoster is optimized for 800x600 or 1024x768. Although I have 1280x1024 set on my home machine, but I am not using a secondary on this one so don't have a problem with the resolution for it. You might try dropping the laptop down to this one and see if it works.

Hoster 4.02 Crashes

I installed 4.02 from 3.xx version. All of my updates are installed. I used the skip button only to see if it would crash, I want to know what will make it crash before I have it happen in a show.

One new thing I have noticed is that it crashes every time I use the AUTO feature.

You have to hit stop first. I select the next song I want to play then hit stop, then hit play. See if this helps. If you run show like this, you don't have to be in auto mode.

Tryin' to help.

NOTE: I can set a five hour playlist up in either on of my test machines and they never lock up.

Jim what I said was correct. Try it and you will see that it will stop the song playing and start the one you highlighted.

I have had that problem too on one of my computers. It was only working with Auto set to 0 second time delay. However it was fixed in 4.02 and is working now for me.
What time did you download 4.02? There was a problem last night where the web site was downloading 4.01 instead of 4.02 through the evening hours.

ya know all who are having problems with 4.02 should state if they are running XP or vista.

if the provlems only lie in vista it will deter others with XP from upgrading from 4.01

My play button was greyed out, must have been a clitch. I tierd it and it did not work but does now. This is the only reason I posted my resonse. WOW, THAT'S GREAT!

That last system restart must have helped.

After fooling around with 4.02 for three days now I am unable to determine any one thing that is causing 4.02 to crash.

As an example I have 20 songs loaded and playing on auto. It may play 4-5 songs then crash or it might crash on the very first song. If I restart Hoster and go back and try to play that same song that it crashed on it may play it or it may crash again. I have been able to get up to about 10 songs being played at the most without crashing.

I double checked all my drivers to make sure they were up to date. My video and sound drivers were out of date but when I updated the sound card driver my kma songs played choppy. I had to revert back to the old sound card driver.

Can I install 3.321 back on this machine and leave 4.02 on it too or should I just dump 4.02 until the bugs are worked out?

Why not save yourself all the trouble and use the 3.4 you already have that is included with 4.0x. It is the file C:\Program Files\Micro Technology Unlimited\Hoster\Hoster34.exe. Create a shortcut to it and put it on your desktop. Your good to go and don't have to go through all that trouble.

Sweet, I did not know that. Is the songbook and the book id's going to be the same for both versions?
