3.40exe back to 4

With alot of the problems resolved, I'm ready to upgrade. I do have a question... I know if there's a problem with 4, you can go to 3.40exe. If you want to try 4 again, how do you switch back?

Thanks'
Ernie

The same way you switched to 3.4. If you have a playlist up in 3.4 it will show up in 4 when you open it.

Dale,
Although I haven't had any problems with the new HDzip to HDmp3g conversion as of yet; however, if one does, say has several files stated as "bad zip files", what happens to those songs? Will they be useable in 3.4 and will the unzipped ones (HDmp3g) also be useable in 3.4,

and if not, what do they do to get those songs working?

I don't have any of those so can't say for sure, but both should work in 3.4. Only way to know for sure is to try it.

I have had the same problem with "bad zip files". The best thing to do is to use Songverter. Convert the bad zips to either a better zip, mp3g or bin file and then re-import into Hoster. Depending on the original zip compression, they don't always import correctly directly into Hoster. In the past, I have had better luck with converting to .bin first. You will need to find which format works best for you.

I see. Most, and I think maybe all, have been songverted from zip to zip, as this has allowed me to use these karaoke zip files in another DJ program if I wanted. Then I save and store them in this format and have imported those into kmas. I have about 13,500 files of which ten thousand were imported directly into cdcdg, and about 3500 which would be in HDzip that will be converting. I think I'll save a complete copy of the kma folder right in the HD and if I get too many bad zips, I'll recopy the old folder and use 3.4. I was also wondering if 3.4 uses the newly converted HDmp3g files as well? as well as the "bad zip files" that did not get imported?

Yes, 3.40 plays my converted HDMP3's. I didin't get the bad zip file error when converting was going on.

Yes, but there are some that are getting those "bad zips" and others who would want to know if the "bad zips" still work in 3.4, if they fear they won't they would hesitate to upgrade, I presume.

Being able to restore is "required" to do the conversion.

KMA HDMP3G format files, which the HDZIPs are being converted into, have always been able to play, even before HDZIP files. When converted, the WILL play in 3.40 or 4.0x, or 3.321a or prior to some point in history.

Hoster uses the most sophisticated unzip code available, and will unzip MAX compressed files. If a file is reported as bad, it was likely imported into Hoster some time back when the error checking was not as good as in 4.0x. These bad files likely would never play in any version of Hoster. You can try to unzip and play them as MP3+G file "pairs" to see if the raw files are good. If so, you can convert them to HDMP3G files.

If anyone finds a bad .KMA file, please attach it to your post in this Thread.

I think I see now, but are you saying that the "bad zipped ones" (the ones that didn't make it) in the conversion process will continue to play when using 3.4? I'm still a lil confused there?

Bryant,
Going off of Admin's post above, it sounds like the "Bad Zip Files" are left in the HDZIP format. This tells me that the zip files are still playable in Hoster vesions that will run HDZIP files. This would be any version other than 4.02 I think.
