Hide In Songbook

Was anyone else aware that after you spend countless hours going through your edit songs and taking great care to mark the best version of all your duplicates that when you rebuild your database all that tedious work is GONE!!!

I was about 1/2 way through my song list when I noticed a common thread in songs that would not play for some reason. The file type had been changed to CDCDG. I know I load all my files from HD ever since Hoster removed the normalize function (I rip to HD then use a 3rd party software to level volumes before importing in to Hoster) I used the new song book function to print a list of only CDCDGs and used that to go through and delete them. Then for some reason I thought it necessary to rebuild the database. After rebuilding I was going to go back to where I left off and continue to mark dupes and noticed that all the songs that I had previously marked were no longer marked as hide in songbook. I guess I assumed this function was written into the header info in the KMAs. Just BEWARE that after a rebuild that hide in songbook will be erased. I used my backup database to recover from this but thought you all should know.

Mark,
Anytime you bebuild the database, your songbook information is refreshed to reflect the changes. Since the "Hide In" feature is a Songbook feature, I'm sure it is being changed as well.

MTU is working around the clock to get Hoster to run correctly on Vista. After this is done, I feel confident that they will address this issue.

GOOD CATCH!

Jim

File Headers

After thinking about, I would guess the change in the file header would have to be this way to keep it compatible with older versions. If we can get past the issues with the new version, the file headers can be changed without regard for previous versions.

Hide in Songbook 4.02

I have just installed 4.02 and I am playing around with the features (when I can get it to stop crashing). Prior to this install I have already deleted my duplicate songs, however I wanted to see how the "hide in songbook" feature works. I selected three songs to hide but they are still showing up in the songbook.
Is this because I do not have a duplicate copy or is it a bug in the software that MTU is still working on?

I also read the above post that says if you rebuild your song database that all the work you did hiding your songs in your song book will be lost. For this reason only I think that this feature is going to be a waste of time. Sooner or later you will probably have to rebuild your song database and then you will have to hide all those songs again. For those of you that have thousands of songs, this can be an awful lot of work. As of now I will just keep deleting my duplicates.

Even if you set it to Hide, if you don't set the songbook to use that then it will still show in the book. You have to tell the songbook to "Create pages using the Exclude Checked Items list at right. If you leave it set to Create all pages it will without excluding anything.
There may be a bug in it but it should be a simple fix for the next release. But I don't think it was a waste of time. Right now it may not work right but it will or it will be removed by MTU.
