Question Help! I'm losing my mind!

Here's my story sad but true.... (someone should write a song about that)

Due to health reasons I have not operated my Hoster program for 2 years. So far it has fought me from minute one. First I couldn't find the Video connector for the ATI card. Ordered a new one. When it arrived I tried to start it up and the MB was dead. Got another MB. Found out I needed to reload Hoster due to new MB. Thought it would be a good time to load Win XP and Hoster into the new 500MB HDD . Loaded Hoster and then the 3.321 upgrade. Copied the Songbook from the old drive to the new. It spent 119 minutes doing it. Now Hoster either cannot or will not access the .kma files. I even tried it from the original drive. No joy.

I decided to give myself a break and continue hooking up the complete system using a CDG. I cannot get stereo sound from the Audio card (Audigy 2 ZS) and I can't remember how I did it before . I tried using two 1/8" to RCA cables from the sound card to the mixer. Only one channel works. Tried swapping cables, same results. Also tried all the jacks - only one gives me sound.

Now I only do one Karaoke show a year, at our campground (unpaid - donations only) - but the kids and their families love it so I keep doing it even though it has cost me big $$, and it lasts from 18 June to 7 July this year . I am not a paid KJ, nor will I ever be. I just love Karaoke and can't breathe in bars due to the cigarette smoke. I think I am going to need all the time left just getting what I used to have working. I also have a bunch of new CDG's that I collected over the last two years to enter as well.

These are (to me) two huge problems and I would appreciate your input and insight please. I am sure I did something wrong copying the files , but so far have not found anything in the users manual that covers it, and I seem to be clueless about the sound card. It seems to me that I had this problem when I first built the system and a single email solved the problem, but I cannot find the old email.

Thank you in advance for your help, and I think I ran out of smilies as well.

Stay Well and Happy,

Kenn Geiger

Update

I don't know why this happened, and until I find out I am afraid to delete any .kma files. I copied all my database to a temp file and then used the rebuild songlist. I had tried this earlier and the program couldn't find any files, so I tried this and it rebuilt the songbook and now it works, the original database file size is the same, so I wonder if it is safe to delete the temp file and the one on the other hard drive? What do you think?

I still have only about half of the music coming out of the sound card though.

The KMA's are your songs don't delete them unless you don't want them.

The database (songs.mdb) is what tells Hoster where your KMA's are located, if your KMA's have moved (and you indicate they did), the old songs.mdb file is useless and can be deleted.

Without physicly seeing your setup it's kind of hard to diagnose this but after looking at some pictures on line (assuming I'm looking at the right one) I would guess that you are using 2 mono cables on 2 separate jacks which may be incorrect. The one channel that is working is probably stereo so you would need an 1/8'' Stereo X 2 RCA adaptor to split the L/R channels.

Just a guess based on not much information.

Thanks again Sam!

You were right on all counts - I guess I don't function at my best in the wee hours of the morning anymore.

No one does. Good formula for a major disaster.

Do it on a weekend or right after you get home if you are not worn out from working.
