loud buzz when turning volume up on laptop

I'm using my laptop with a 3.5mm to dual rca to my mixer and from my
mixer to my home stereo. When I turn the volume up I get a horrible
feedback sound. Any suggestions?

What you are getting is called a ground loop effect (open ground on you electric input). There have been several threads posted on this, but I don't remember what type of isolation filter was recommended. Do a search of the forums for audio buzz or ground loop. Also, you should be able to talk to your local Radio Shack dealer and they can tell you what you need to fix it.

try a simple 3 to 2 prong adaptor found at any local harware store

I get that hum at one of my places Beav, but the AC cord from the computer is already 2-prong. How might I correct that?

you can get a hum ellimintor from ebtech.com for $60.00 or go to radio shack and you can get one for &15.00

Where do these get plugged in? I mean between what two devices?

end of computer cable and strip, or strip and the wal, etc.

ebtech hum elliminator is what you used to plugged into your amp and the line out of your mixing board or you can get the other ebtech hum elliminator that you plugged into the wall..the one from radio schack is from the headphone out of your pc/laptop to one of the channels ( left )
of your mixing board or from the line out of your ext. sound card to line in of the board..

I thought this might help someone else out who is using
a laptop with hoster. That horrible feedback sound when
I turned the volume up was due to the microphone option
being on under the volume control settings! I turned it off
and the feedback dissappeared!
