How do I import Karaoke VCD trks?

Iv followed the help section as far as using Windows Explorer to copy the VCD trks from the cd into a folder.
The help section tells me I can play the now converted ".dat" files from that folder.
I load the trk to hoster and the music plays but I dont get any lyrics or any image showing at all???

I have a few VCD discs I need to copy so I can play them in Hoster.

HELP PLEASE

Will the .dat files play in Windows Media Player?
If not try installing the latest Windows Media Player (10 or 11?) and then try it.

GENERALLY speaking if it will play in WMP it should play in Hoster.

importing vcd to play in hoster

using windows explorer to import vcd will not give you a good results, sometimes the song start anywhere. This is the way to do it. Download this software (freeware) called isobuster v2.0 and install it to your computer. Then open the program, place your vcd in your cd drive and click the + (red) next to the title to expand and then click mpegav. On the right pane, click the song or all the song listed (like avseq01.dat and remeber that one song has at least 20 mb and up, below that might be the intro or insert of the vcd). Then, right click the song and click extract (bold letters). Wait for a few minutes to finish and once it's done, you can play it now in hoster using VIDEO. You can try 1 song first to verify. This procedure is guaranteed will work and accurate. If you want to extract all use "control A" to highlight.

Yes the .dat files do play in both Windows Media Player 11 and PowerDVD. The video and lyrics appear and music plays.

All my .kma files play perfectly.

Iv just discovered I dont have the "main" screen but only hav the "preview" screen. (The little one on Hoster.) The .kma files show up on this little screen.

Could this be the problem y im not getting any image from the .dat files? I do know now that when I first installed Hoster, I did hav 2 screens.... the preview one and the main screen.

Iv just uninstalled Hoster and re-installed it again but still only have the "preview" *****????

Please help

You need to delete the Registry keys to restore the default locations for the screens. Go to this link for instrauctions how to do it:
http://www.mtu.com/kb/index.php?acti...2141a8391c2148

Be sure Hoster is closed when you do this. When finished open Hoster and reset you preferences.

are you hooked up on a second monitor/tv when playing? i only have the small screen when im using hoster at home, but when i do a show, i have the main screen and the singers display screen, plug into a second monitor/tv and see if the singers screen shows up ,and if it does you can resize it and drag it back to your pc/ laptop, make sure the second tv/ monitor is on before you open up hoster.

Kiwisinger check my last post in your other post http://forum.mtu.com/showthread.php?t=8610 for your answer if Billyo's answer doesn't work.

The KMA files play in one Play Display and Video files in another. If you check the Manual, you'll read about this.

Thank you for reporting that 3.316 allows your Play Display (and thus your Video Display which uses the same screen settings) to be moved off the screen where you can't get to it. I'll have engineering check this. We "used to" have error checking code that prevented it from disappearing.

Are you running a dual-display video card, or a single-display card? If dual, and you don't have the TV plugged in before turning the computer on, often video cards won't "boot up" in dual mode. My guess is this is the problem and you had moved the Play Display screen to the second (TV) monitor.

As ddouglass pointed out, be sure you have the latest drivers for your video card, and motherboard also. You can find these at the manufacturer's web site. Use Start menu > Settings > Control Panel > System tab. If I am right, you will find your video card manufacturer, and your motherboard also. Then, use Google.com to locate these manufacturers, and you will find a "download" or "drivers" page where you can see the latest versions.

... read the manual on the displays.

Thank you ddouglass for that link to the registry....it worked YES! I got the main screen back.

I have another problem I think?

Hoster will play KMA & MP3+G files perfectly with lyrics on both screens but when I play a VCD file it will show lyrics on the singers screen but not the little screen?

Is it suppose to show the lyrics on the little screen?

As far as I know it doesn't. I don't use them but I believe that is the way it is.

Also, is the video screen setting persistent? It seems everytime I play a video for the first time in a night, it comes up on my screen and I have to do that screen resizing exercise with the karaoke file first to get it wotk; but I end up doing this every time during a show. What causes it to default back? Or can I do something to keep it "video-friendly", other than try to remember to put myself thru the "video-resetting exercise" before the show starts?

This setting should be persistant. Maybe there is something in the registry you need to set to make it persistant? Dunno.

Every once in a while if I click stop at the very beginning of a video file, it will revert back to it's default location. No one else has ever reported this and I can't seem to intentionally recreate it so I've never reported it.

Also several months ago I had a situation where my database search window wouldn't keep its location persistance, it would keep it's size persistance but the location would go back to default. Again no one else reported it so I figured it was something goofy on my computer. It seemed to clear itself up after a few weeks.
