need to re-install hoster

My backup PC does not play mpeg video files. I tried lots of possible solutions unsuccessfully. I just re-installed windows so I need to be able to do the same with hoster. Please let me know what to do. Thank you.

The most important issue is that I’m unable to get my .mpeg files in the singer screen (my main PC does play all types of video files)
Both Computers are practically the same…
I gave up. I decided to start all over.

The Computer I’m talking about is the same I’ve always used:

HP Pavilion a345c
Windows XP Professional
Processor Athlon 2.08 GHz
512 MB of Ram

Totis,
The answer to this problem is quite simple. Your computer does not know what a .mpeg file is.

rename the .mpeg file to -> .mpg then it will play just fine.

Gary: I already tried this but did not solve my problem.
I also update all my video drivers (ATI & windows)
I installed all the DivX video codecs (that someone suggested)
After all of this, my PC got worse: It became very slow and my primary monitor lost its normal resolution… it turned green.
Definitely, something wrong happened and I think it’s time to start all over.
I mean, if my main computer is very similar and is working fine, the other should not have any problem after a nice and clean re-install. Don’t you think?

It may be a problem with the windows installation or the updates. If I am right the videos are read by a windows program not a mtu program. and the codecs are whatever the media player will read.

That was why I had to install the divx codecs. it enabled media player. But I also had it where it wouldnt play the .mpegs, and a simple renaming took care of it.
