Mmmmmm....very odd?
Thanks guys for 3.12, looking good so far and the preview screen in the Edit songs field is brilliant for checking that a HD file has loaded ok, saving time on editing the song and artist details if it hasn't. Nice Job!
I have noticed one strange thing though. I reimporting a number of files which were screwed when I renamed them and ran the Build Songs Database, due to the bug in the last version. Everything seems to be fine this time, except with a number of files there is no sound when I try to play them even though they loaded into Hoster without any problem. On investigation it appears that if you open the Volume Control window, the Wave Balance slider is being reset to the minimum - so no sound output. If you move the slider up the sound comes back, but if you restart the song it reverts back to silence???? It's only happening randomly, (not every song, or a particular file) and mostly with Legends Series. Any come across this? OS is Windows 2000 Cheers Selmer ![]() |

The same thing happened to me twice so far. I didn't think much about it until it was posted here. It has only happen to me with the newest version.

Just some more info, in case someone in MTU wants to investigate.
If the Wave Balance slider is reduced to the minimum (and even if it is reset to play the song), it will drop back down again for the next song in the playlist, even if there was never a problem with this track before. The only way to break this chain is to close and re-open Hoster. I only came across this last night when loading HD tracks, but now I'm starting to get worried, can't go checking every track before it plays during a gig! This has only started since installing 3.12, is it just me or the software? Selmer |

Ok,
This makes sense now. This is a "Feature" that was added. Here is how it is supposed to work. When you first open Hoster, whatever your Wave Slider is set at is stored in a Registry Key for Hoster. So if it is at 95% then this is what is stored. If you then go and change this to 50% while Hoster is open, to play a song, and then Close Hoster it will then set this back to 95% as this is what it had stored. So if you need to change this Wave Slider, to something that you want to keep, close Hoster Set it to the correct Setting that you wish to use. Then open Hoster. It will now hold your new Wave Slider Setting. See if this is what you guys are running into.

Wav volume mysteriously gets set to zero
It happens on a rack computer I built for a friend of mine but never on my personal unit. Yep, the Wav volume mysteriously gets set to zero. The first time it happened he called me in a state of panic. So I rushed to his show. After checking all the wiring and stuff (cause there was no sound) we figured it out. It still happens from time to time but now we know what to look for. And I haven't figured out how to make it happen.
(As far as I remember its been happening since 3.06) Looks like we (MTUSUPPORT) were posting at the same time. so I was able to edit this post after submitting. FYI, he typically does not change the Wav volume. But I'll check out what you said. Hmm..Who would have thought it saves the setting upon opening? Bryan,
Looks like you cracked it. I went into the volume contol from the control panel with Hoster closed, and sure enough the wave balance was down to zero. I reset it and opened Hoster, and we are back Rock n Rollin' The only slight worry still is that I would have had no reason to ever mess with the wave balance, so I'm not sure how the problem came up in the first place. I'll keep and eye on it and see if it happens again. Thanks for the help Tom |

The question that poppped into my mind when I read Bryan's post was pretty much the same.
How would the control get to zero in the first place ? George |

Good Question. I'm not really convinced yet either, because we set the wave volume to max and never touch it. Well see.
(Off subject: I have to say it. The mods in 3.12 to the most used -1 keychange are awsome!!! ![]() Last edited by Debinski; September 27th, 2005 at 11:00 AM. |

Just tried loading a few more HD files, keeping a close eye on what was going on.
Loaded them disc by disc, checking after each disc that Hoster played each of the tracks. Got as far as the third disc (Legends Series LG 039), and for no particular reason when I tried to play through the tracks, the wave volume dropped for track 4. The loading of HD files is doing something to that Registery setting. I don't know if anyone else is loading HD files, are you getting the same result? Before gigging I would suggest checking the control panel to make sure the setting is at max before opening Hoster. The problem seems to be confined to loading the tracks. Any ideas? Tom Tom |

Mine is always set to max. I never change it.

I think I have identified the direct cause.
When importing HDD disc, not all the tracks load successfully into Hoster. Example
Once a song is deleted (though not in all cases) the wave volume control is being reset to minimun, and there is no sound. On closing Hoster and resetting it in the Contol Panel, the successfully imported tracks will play fine once Hoster is re-opened. That's the problem.... now what's the answer? ![]() |

A few of us: were ( are ) having trouble loading ANY cdg directly from the hard drive, but have been un-able to track down the problem. Could be that this is related somehow ??
Are the files you're having trouble with in CDG, BIn, mp3+g, or zip format ? More information would be very useful.

I'm not saying this is the cause, just pointing out that other programs can effect the wave slider even if the user sets it to max and never touches it. Sam

The Win Amp volume control has no effect on the .WAV setting, but the .WAV slider does affect Win Amp volume. George |

Ok, if people are using the WinAmp volume control, it's not going to effect the Wav slider, which would have to happen if Hoster was to be reopened and subsequently a new Wav setting saved.
Isn't the wav volume one of those "set it and forget it" adjustments? |

![]() I have not experienced this but then I have only done one show with computer and that was with version 2.610.
Bryan if the Wav control is being used/affected by Hoster could it be possible to add a slide control for that to Hoster in the show window and the edit window to allow us to adjust instantly. This could even be used for fade out/in.

Morning guys,
Just to answer some of the questions posted. 1. I'm loading MPG3 files from the hard disk. 2. there are no other audio programmes open when this is happening. Whatever is happening when Hoster cannot play an imported file, is resulting in the Wave Volume being knock out. It's not a critical problem, but its very annoying because everytime it happens you have to close Hoster and reset in the Control Panel. It's a bit of a pain in the arse with so many discs to load. |

I apolagize for not clarifying which winamp I was referring to, But it doesn't change the point I was trying to make which was that one has to rule out other programs affecting the sliders before deciding it's being caused by Hoster. Question for selmer: Is one or both of the files (mp3 or .cdg) bad or is it just the resulting KMA that is bad? IE can you reimport the original MP3G and have it work? Sam
