quick selection of next song

Hello.

I recently upgraded from Hoster Lite 3.110 (yes, that is an old OLD from 2005 or so !!!) to the most recent version of Video Hoster (5.10)

One thing changed, which is a real big problem for me:

I am a solo-performer - this means that I am the only singer. I use karaokefiles run by Hoster when I perform.

In the old Hoster Lite I can highlight the next song I want to perform while another one is playing. So whenever a song finish I just can just hit CTRL+Space and the song I previously selected Begins to play. This way I can turn from one song to the next very fast.

But in this new version of Hoster Things are different : when a song finishes that song will highlight, so even if I marked my next song a minute ago it's useless because the song that just finished will be the highlighted one. So between two songs I have to look Down at the laptop to find the next song, when I should be talking to the audience.!

This is a big issue for me.
Is there any way I can change the behavior of the current version of Video Hoster. I have searched the manual and tried to look at different seetings within a program, but I have not been able to find a solution.

I hope somebody has an advice for me!

Thanks in advance.

Regards, Martin, Denmark

Re: quick selection of next song

I don't know if this would work for you, I presume you load a saved playlist, after loading it set all songs to status Skip, there are a number of ways to do that, you can use the skip button or right click and choose mark as or use CTRL+K.
Once they are all set to skip save the playlist so that it opens in future with them all skipped.

Now un-skip your first song and start it playing, then un-skip the next you need. when the first song finishes playing pressing Play or CTRL+ P or CTRL + space will jump to the next un-skipped song, if the next un skipped song is above the one playing you may need to hit CTRL+ space a second time.

The only other thing I can think of is to hit the pause button before the song ends then hit Play button or CTRL+ P and it will jump to the highlighted song.

Re: quick selection of next song

Yes you are right: I use a presaved playlist with about 120 songs for each show.

"The only other thing I can think of is to hit the pause button before the song ends then hit Play button or CTRL+ P and it will jump to the highlighted song. "
I kind of like this solution. Is there a keyboard short-cut for "Pause"?

I tried the thing with "mark as SKIP". I think that's a Little too complicated during the show - too many keys to be pressed while singing!

I am sorry to say this, but I really like the old Hoster Lite 3.110 better on this issue. Does anyone know when and why this feature was changed?

The main reason for me to upgrade was to be able to use the function "skip silence in the beginning of a song", which by the way does not Work all that well: The beginning of each song is perfect, but the sound stops a second or so to early, making a harsh cut in the end of each song. I haven't tried to solve this yet, but there is probably a way!

---

Does anyone know if it would be possible (and run smoothly and stable) to install my "Hoster Lite 3.110 from 2005" on my brand new Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit machine (a Macbook running Windows in bootcamp, but that shouldn't really matter. Windows is Windows!)

I am really afraid that I would prefer to stick with the old version to solve the above problem.

But Roy Dennis, thank you very much for your reply. Your suggestion about pausing before the end and then press ctrl+P is the best solution right now, although it is not perfect!

Re: quick selection of next song

CTRL + A will pause the song.
The short cuts are shown in the manual under "Playing Songs In The Playlist Hot Keys"

If the song is ending too abruptly after the remove silence that can be adjusted from the Tools/remove silence at the bottom of the dialog you can add time to the abrupt ending with the after audio ends add silence.
Also from the Tools/ Audio controls you can adjust it to fade in or out.

The way most people use the playlist is to drag and drop the songs in the playlist to the order they want them to play, they then play one after the other.

I can only suggest you try your earlier version to see if it works.

Re: quick selection of next song

You might find it better to adopt the singers database function for your songs instead of what you do now using pre defined playlist.
If you create a singers list in your own name you can have the list open all the time and it will list them all alphabetically, you can just click on a header to sort them by artist or title. Then you just double click or hit the enter key on a song in your playlist and it will load below the last song in the main playlist so would be the next song to play.

If you want songs to play back to back, why not just line your songs up on the playlist (in the order you want them) and put Hoster in "Auto."

If you need a break at some point, put an "A" Stop between songs and Hoster will stop at the "A" Stop.

Then when you're ready to start again, start the first song after the "A" Stop and Hoster will again play in auto until it reaches another "A" Stop.

To put in an "A" Stop, hold the Shift & Ctrl key down will clicking on the "Add" button located beside the small preview window.

Not sure if this is what you want, but it's worth a try...
