BuildSongErrors.txt ????

I couldn't find anything in the manual on the BuildSongErrors.txt... Are these just bad recordings of songs that need to be replaced, or just deleted? I have about 35 that are just numbers. How do I find out what songs they are? Example: L:\Songs\013-19.kma

Thanks,
Ernie

Hey Ernie,
I have never seen this but just looking I would say that the BuildSongsError.txt is a list of KMA files that had something wrong with them so Hoster could not add them to the database. I believe this is what they are.

Locate the KMA files on your hard drive then load them into Hoster using the the K-oke button (Hoster 4 right?). If the files plays, it is good. If it does not play, it need to be reimported.

My fist file in my KMA folder is:

ASK04-1

This means it's track 1 off of All Star Karaoke Disc number 04.

ASK = All Star Karaoke

04 = the company disc number

1 = the track number.

I hope this helps.

Jim

When you say they are just numbers, do you mean like BookID numbers( example 1540)?

I do have about 10 that are not just numbers... Example: L:Songs\SC1711-14.kma. I went into Songs mdb and none of them on the list are in Songs mdb, sooooo I think I'm going to delete all of them and the ones with info, such as SC1711-14, I will find out what songs they are and download them.... Thanks for the help!

book id

the way i see this report file is for book ID dupes you cant have another song or disk use the same book ID this list tells you it found the same book id so hoster cant use it change file name or book id and import again.Also if you merge files samr thing will happen in a merge error txt file.

If you Merge, duplicate Book IDs are renumbered to the lowest number & songs are added. Only duplicate DiskID&# are not added a second time.

This is a report of a songs that could not be built into the database due to having 2 book ids duplicated. The ones on the list will not be listed in the database search. You may want to take those discs & reimport them with their own bookid - first you will need to delete the discs out of the hard drive, then rebuild the database again & then reimport the discs.

Lonman,
in MTU\Hoster\Build Song DB Log.txt, I have 76 with duplicate book ID's. The BuildSongErrors.txt only had fourty something songs and they were different. What's the difference between BuildSongDBLog.txt and the BuildSongError.txt???

Thanks,
Ernie

Ernie, I have never seen or heard of a file called "BuildSongErrors.txt". There is no mention of it in the manual and it does not exist in any of Hoster's folders. I am guessing it is a list of songs that simply were not imported because there was something wrong with them that didn't allow Hoster to import. (not because of duplicate BookIDs or DiskIDs)

When you open the list, what does it say at the top, or is it just a list? Does it show the filepath? If so, maybe you could use Songverter to convert to another format before trying to import them again, to be sure they are compatible with Hoster. I have had to convert some zips just because the original compression was not compatible. Songverter is extremely helpful in making files work with Hoster.

yes this is dupe book id remove them from your kma list of songs then rebuild data base it should be clear after removing dupes then check if you have the tracks you removed if not import again. and you dont want unkown files anyway.

OK - BuildSongsDBlog sounds different from BuildSongsErrors, but apparently still refers to the same thing.

Yes, this refers to duplicate BookIDs found when "rebuilding". This happens when you import files to Hoster using a different computer and then transfer them to the computer you actually use them on. This is explained in detail in the Manual. Whenever you do that, rather than "rebuild" you should "Merge" instead. Each computer assigns it's own BookIDs (hence you may get duplicates). This has driven me crazy on several occasions.

If you "Merge" (it's called "Add" in 4.0x) that same folder, then it WILL add those songs and assign them a different BookID#. If you already have the same songs already identified the same way (i.e. CDG903-10), then they will not be merged & you will get a different list showing which songs could not be "merged", which means you already have them. This is also an easier list to work from. If you know for sure those songs have not been imported & listed in the database, then those are the only ones you will need to "re-import".

P.S. They will say "Unknown" because you didn't type in the Title & Artist when you imported them & apparently they weren't in the original file name. You have to pay attention when you import to what is actually typed on the list. Sometimes you need to correct errors manually.
