The higher the bitrate, the better the sound quality. I personally rip at 192. But the higher the bitrate, the bigger the file - but with hard drive pricing as low as they are nowdays, just get a good 300-500 GB drive & you should be good for a while.
No real fast way to rip, I do most of mine at a max 4 x speed after I found the faster doesn't always import the best & I am finding alot of my older imports I am needing to re-import because they were done at max & have massive graphic issues.
