George , Thanks for your input and yes my primary use would be to back up and create karaoke CD+g's but on the other hand I have DVD's which I want to back up also. I'm probably putting all my eggs in one basket but I don't have a DVD rom which, the PX-708 offers in the same drive.
All that being said, I just got a phone call from Plextor and they informed me that 4x is the slowest speed that the PX-708 will write in the CD+G format.
The reason why they don't mention that the drive will burn CD+G's is that they don't bundle the software to burn CD+G's.
Knowing this I need to do research a bit deeper into the JVC karaoke machine read speeds (for which the CD was burned at).
I also have a choice of software to look at too.
