..if you go to your laptops manufacturer , it should tell you how much you can upgrade to and it tells you what kind to get..in my case its a Dell i was able to see how much ram i could upgrade to, all i had to do was put in my service tag # and i could upgrade up to 2g.but anyway sorry for not making it clear
