Windows 7 with MP4 video in Hoster

I have recently acquired a new computer with Windows 7 operating system and am just experimenting with it at the moment. I still have my XP show computer that is running flawlessly so this new one will be as a reserve in case of failure. My XP has the k-lite codec pack installed and seems to run all types of video formats with no problems.
I have not yet installed the K-Light codec pack onto my Windows 7 computer yet as it seems to play all the video formats with the exception of MP4 which are the ones I mostly use now In my shows. They play perfect in Windows Media Player and another DJ program I have so as I see it the codecs are there.
As a last resort I will install the K-Light codecs but don't really wont to if there is another simple way.

Has anyone else found a way around this, perhaps changing some settings in Windows 7.

Roy.
