The microphone set he is talking about (VocoPro UHF-5800) has only one component that is common to all microphones and that is the power supply. Each mic has a separate receiver in the unit and they can be changed out individually, so there is no chance of losing all 4 at once unless the power goes out.
I have at least 3 of these and have never had a failure yet.
