OK... here's a good example of why we can't tell you what you need exactly.

Billyo's 1st system has 2048MB RAM, but 630MB is unavailable, used by Windows and other drivers/programs. Only 1370MB is available for Hoster and other programs.

His 2nd system has 1530MB RAM, but 400MB is unavailable. Only 930MB is available for Hoster and others.

If you have 1000MB (1GB) RAM, and your OS and drivers are taking 630MB, you only have 370MB available for Hoster and others.

If you enable Visualization, we have seen 60MB be required.

With a large Songs Database, I have seen Hoster go from 17MB (first run) to 129MB by doing several things. The Songs Database was 14MB in size. When I opened the Search dialog and entered * to find all, 28MB RAM was consumed peaking the usage up to 128MB.

If you have a large Singers Database, it too will require more RAM. You think things are slow when we load them into RAM, they become worthless if we tried to thrash the HDD... i.e. it woulldn't work.

The larger your Songs & Singers Databases are, the more RAM you need. That's a simple fact of life.

TIP... several of our Beta Testers used "System Mechanic" (cleanup) program from Iolo Systems. I run it daily. It compacts my physical RAM to free up fractured RAM space (yes, that can happen just like discs get fragmented). Problems with low ran have disaappeared after RAM compaction.

We found that opening IE7 with 5 tabs, the closing 3 tabs and viewing with Task Manager, 5 tabs were still being shown. Since we use ID for our Show Display, it could well be that IE/Windows is NOT freeing RAM after the Show Display switches from, say Lyrics to Intermission or Audio or Video. We'll do some more testing on this.

Keep in mind that the Show Display (in its current form) has been around for a number of versions, not just 4.10.

If you don't have 2GB RAM, don't expect Hoster to work correctly. Again, running System Mechanic may help you free up fractured RAM that Windows doesn't give back automatically.
