Question

Firemech

I don't see your two CD-RW's as being supported by MTU Programs or CDRWin (Goldenhawk).

HP 9700i Product Spec's Link:

http://h20015.www2.hp.com/en/documen...cName=lpg40181

It appears, according to Prod. Specs. will do CDG.

I think you should contact MTU to get either "Yes" or "No" if their program is supported by your two CD-RW's. (If they added support for the 9700i in their program)

Also go the HP's Site and look for any Firmware Updates for the 9700i.

Per "Jim in Ohio" get and use MTU ASPI Drivers and then retry, the MTU program.

FEWER AND FEWER CD-RW'S ARE BEING SUPPORTED BY CDG FORMAT. WHEN YOU PURCHASE SOFTWARE, ALWAYS READ THE PRODUCTS SPECIFICATIONS TO SEE IF IT WORKS WITH A PARTICULAR CD-RW.

P.S. YOU MIGHT TRY THIS TO SEE IF YOU ELIMINATE "DRIVER" CONFLICT, SEE BELOW:

Another cause could be a real-mode (DOS) driver loading in the Config.sys file. The following procedure will help you disable a possible incompatible driver.

To edit the Config.sys file: (Microsoft(R) Windows 95, 98, NT, 2000 and XP)

1. Click Start, and then click Run.

2. Type sysedit and then click OK.

3. Type REM at the beginning of any line(s) in the CONFIG.SYS file which include the statement "device=" or "devicehigh=" and loads any CD-ROM drivers

For example,
device=cdrom.sys

should be changed to

REM device=cdrom.sys.

This will disable any potentially conflicting drivers from controlling the CD-ROM or
HP DVD/CD Writer drive.

4. If DOS drivers were loading, remember to save the REM changes you have made to the
file by clicking File, then clicking Save).

5. Shut down the computer normally, turn the computer power off, reconnect the HP
DVD/CD Writer drive, and restart the computer normally.

IF THIS DOENS'T WORK, JUST GO BACK AND DELETE THE "REM", SAVE AND RE-BOOT.
