Bob, I feel your pain. I too, had a lot of problems with the 4.xx versions of Hoster. I consider myself an above average novice when it comes to computers. Not an expert by any means, but I can usually figure it out with enough time. I have managed to get a very stable setup running at my place by eliminating anything and everything that isn't absolutely necessary to run a show. With the help of this site
http://www.blackviper.com/ I have been able to disable everything that doesn't accomplish the goal of running a show. Since the release of 4.0, I worked on these problems to find work arounds like running graphics at 16 bit and dragging the corners of the singers screen instead of double clicking. Later on, I was asked to be a beta tester. I can tell you that MTU has been working diligently to address every issue. I can tell you that they do not take the criticism lightly. They have been the leader in computer karaoke from the beginning, and the recent setbacks related to Vista compatibility have left them in a position they are not farmiliar with. Being very proud of their product being rock solid for so long and then having to suffer through these pains of trying to get things to run right in XP and Vista have driven them nearly mad. Having been a customer for as long as you and I have, it is unsettleing to find that the program you have counted on for so long, without giving it a second thought, is suddenly not living up to your expectations. I assure you that they are on the right track now. Their first and foremost concern in the upcoming release is for Hoster to be as stable as it always has been. The new features and additions are going to have to take a back seat to stability. I can tell you that this is going to happen. The folks at MTU are not only hard working individuals, I believe that they genuinely care about giving us the ability to run a quality and trouble free show. I, for one, am willing to wait it out.
