I am not sure where you got your information but XP and Vista both have a memory limit of 4GB for the 32 bit processor and 64GB for the 64bit processor. Laptops may have a 2GB limit but that is not the operating systems limit.
Unfortunately because everything is converting to Digital TV now the TV output on laptops and video cards is going to get to be a bit harder to work with. In the future we will all end up having to use an external RF amplifier that will take an HDMI input an allow either RCA, SVideo, HDMI or coax output.
Vista is going away to be replaced by Windows 7. That does not mean that MTU isn't still working to make sure Hoster works with Vista. The memory requirements for Vista didn't jump way up because of Hoster, but because of the Memeory required for Vista. Hopefully Windows 7 will bring this back down some.
If you are looking for a Laptop with XP I suggest you look at Dell in the Small Business section. They still offer an XP downgrade for those machines.
