I've got the same error message and didn't think I would have any problems after being told it was a Microsoft thing.
I am having serious problems after downloading 4.06 (running XP sp 3 with 2Gb memory) windows shut down my playlist 8 times in an hour
. The majority of the time ( 6 out of 8) it happened when I was deleting a song from the playlist.
Any Suggestion what maybe causing this. I had no problems running 4.03
I also have vista on my back up and have not experienced any problems with it since loading 4.06
