I figured you started with songs sometimes and without songs others (like me), it was just a thought.
I think you will find that 4.06 is better overall than 4.05. I just click on a shourtcut to Hoster in the area next to my Start button, wait for 4.06 to load then start working with it. I don't use any start/restart procedure.
As far as I know Rick, you are the only person who has reported that Hoster 4.XX runs the first song out of sync everytime on XP.
Of course, get all of the Windows Custom Updates....bla ba bla. Install 4.06, use the old player and run it for a day or two. Everytime I upgrade to a new version of Hoster, I set up a five hour test playlist in auto mode and just let it run. Maybe this lets Hoster adjust to my system. Just another thought.
I set it up where the songs stay on the "Test" playlist. When the playlist stops I just reastart Hoster to run it again for another five hours.
If you find that you have to run your MUX videos in 3.40 (you should be able to run them in 4.06 with the old player), be sure to open 4.06 first. They will run side by side, with both open at the same time. Just minimize the one you are not using.
