Windows "Modified"

Okay, color went screwy on our flat screen that we use with our computer (not the singer's monitor) - Instead of waiting until I got home and could explore the issue, I went into Windows Display and switched off "Windows Modified" - now the blue screen is gone on the the singer's monitor and when a song isn't playing, shows the windows wallpaper (green hill, blue sky, etc.) and when you don't have a positive search, you can hear the 'tone' that didn't happen before.

Is this something I have to go into the registery business to fix or is there some quick fix? I don't have time to set it up and go through all the changes I had made when we first set up (I'm NOT a computer genius by any means) and wondered if someone could come to my rescue with a quick fix.

I haven't upgraded, not using 4.0 or anything newer, on the same one I started with originally. Will upgrade this week (I think I'm over my "Lost files" phobia from original installation!).
