Some of your questions are explained, in detail, in the Manual, saving a lot of space here on the Forum, especially about Vista. Yes, it's a lot of reading, but in the long run it will save you a lot of headaches. Believe me, we all understand your frustration (been there, done that)

Have you tried using "Songverter" to convert your Zip files to mp3G or bin format before importing to Hoster? When first learning about zip files to save space in order to save my old CDGs on my hard drive, I did not understand that all zip programs are not created equal. I discovered that the compression ratio varies depending on the program that was used. So, I had the same problem when first importing zips into Hoster. It's an extra step & yes it is time consuming. However, once I used Sonverter first & then imported the converted files into Hoster, I got cleaner more useable kma song files (good graphics, etc.).
