I am not sure if XP needs all the updates or not but I rather be safe than sorry. At least with the updates I know that everything will work once everything is all said and done and it will work
properly I update my computers once week I check for even the smallest updates because that maybe the one I missed That I needed the manual tells us which updates we need.
