If you go to the RUN command prompt and type in MSCONFIG then press enter it will pull up some options, select diagnostic radius button,you will gain as much speed as your computer can give you but will not start some specific software that slows down your machine.
Most progams installed on your computer add startup services you dont need.
But antivirus progams could be affected so start them separately.
