Skybird......I see what you mean (at least how you use Book ID button etc.)....just thought i would give you feeback.
I have 4.03 installed and I am able to search this way (by Book ID) and add the song to the play list with the "Add track" button and it plays. I also have people that ask for Book ID sometimes. At any rate, it works for me.
I am sorry you are having problems. I hate to say it; but did you try re-installing
...don't know if this will help your situation...just thought i would respond to your question
