How much free space (percentage) does the defrag program show on your drive when you analyze it?
The minimum recommended is 25% of the drive. This allows Windows to have enough room for temporary files and operating room. Defrag does not do well and takes extreme amounts of time if there isn't more than 25% free space for it to move files segments around to get the fragmentation out. Defrag will also be very slow if the amount of fragmentation is excessive. I have run Defrag for as long as 24 hrs for it to get done (not my computers....at work
