I am beginning to believe Bryan may be right about your hard drive. When a drive has problems finding the sectors needed, they can start clicking because they are doing a wide sweep seeking to find it. Rough explanation but very hard to explain.
Try running a Checkdsk on your C: drive and see if you come up with any errors.
