Basically what you have to do is use drivers from a laptop that has similar specs and that came with XP. Toshiba support was wrong. It will work with XP. I did a google search on the subject and did a lot of research before I did the change. I also downloaded some drivers and saved them to a cd before changing as well. The only thing is that you will do is put the support on yourself. I simply took my laptop to my workplace and plugged the network connection into a spare port on the switch. Then I booted from my new oem version of XP and just reformatted the entire c drive. Then followed the screen instructions. It took about 3 hours including over 80 microsoft updates and driver installations. I have no hardware issues at all. It is really a personal choice. I am glad I changed mine. However, you may want to try other options. Good luck.
