What brand/model of DVD burner do you have? You may need to update the firmware for the burner. This can be found on the manufacturer's web site.
Other possibilities could be Microsoft updates. Make sure you have done the Custom updates and not the Express or auto ones as this does not do everything you need.
The last thing I can think of is if you have a disc burning software other than Microstudio, such as Nero or Roxio, you need to remove their entries in the Startup folder because they will lock the drive direct to that program.
