In the U.S., technicly probably yes. You could use the burn't copies (which many people use so the KJ can't ruin their originals), but if you were called on it by the music police, you have to be able to produce the originals.

Now since in the U.S. there is no music police at this time I would not be overly concerned with it.

In reading posts from Canadian KJ's in other karaoke forums it's my understanding that Canada is a bit more aggressive in fighting piracy, so they have to be a bit more careful about having originals available if they get called on it.
That's my understanding anyhow.
