I'm not talking about RSQ's Neo+G. I'm talking about SCDG... the topic of this thread.
At this time, there is yet another round of attacks against ALL Hosts, Legal and Illegal by Sound Choice and Stellar Records. They are now INTIMIDATING the venue owners who hire you. Why? Because they are tired of the illegal bootlegging that is ruining their businesses. I don't blame them one bit, and MTU will be 100% behind them... in going after the ILLEGAL KJs that ruin the Industry for all of us.
MTU must continue to prove our focus is on LEGAL distribution, and your rights to make backups of your legal CDG discs, and your rights to format shift them to files on a hard drive.
MTU is the only company fighting for the rights of Legal Karaoke Hosts. Thus, we are extremely sensitive to what is LEGAL, and what is not. I can tell you that very knowledgeable people in the licensing area have told me that CAVS does not pay their licensing fees and thus ALL their songs are illegal. If this is correct, anyone owning a CAVS system or CAVS songs downloaded or on SCDG discs is running an ILLEGAL business. If this is true, Sound Choice and Stellar Records could catch you in their sweep and you have no legal rights against them. Do you want to risk that?
Before you bring Chartbusters SCDG discs into this Thread, they have had many law suits against them in the past for not paying their licensing fees. I don't know if they are or are not legal. At $0.33 a song (450 @ $150 for a SCDG), the math sure does look illegal to me.
For the record: I have yet to have anyone prove to me that even one SCDG disc for sale is legal, with all licenses paid for all songs contained therein.
