Updated drivers and Direct-X usually the cause

Brian's advice is correct.

1. Make sure your video display card drivers have been recently updated. You can find these at the manufacturer's web site that makes your display card. It is best to go to their site and download the latest drivers for your card.

2. Make sure you have the Microsoft Direct-X 8.1 version for your windows. Read this post for instructions:
