The KMA files that have acted up vary from songs rarely sung to one's that are used most nights.

Actually it does make since Kate. Windows (no matter which version) tends to become a memory hog over time. One of the best things you can do is to clear out the temp directorys (including the one under C:\windows and the one under C:\documents and settings\administrator\local settings). Then defrag all of the drives. Slow drive access due to fragmentation will cause audio dropout.
