Heat could definately be a factor, especially in laptops because everything is crammed into very tight quarters. I would take Larry's advice first and get the cooling unit, but I would also contact Toshiba and see about a replacement internal fan. If you are not comfortable with opening the laptop take it to a local authorized service for Toshiba. They should be able to order part and replace. Hope you bought the extended warranty
