Humm and hiss are 2 different animals. Humm is generally a grounding issue or having some of your components on circuits that are out of phase with the circuits other components are on. Sharing circuits with certain other equipment can be problematic as well. Hiss tends to be related to the quality of the components in your signal chain, it's been my experience that the mixer is usually the culprit.

As to your original question: If the speakers are powered it's possible they (or the circuit they are on) are the source of your hum, if they are passive they are not the source, something else in the chain is responsible
