Actually, what normally is reported is that the security codes were changed and the "serial number mismatch..." error appears. This appears to be a random event... happens to some, not to others, and we have never seen it at MTU, and cannot re-create it. I'm not familiar with the hourglass appearing then disappearing.
Did you reboot after installing?
Do you have all your Wndows updates done?
The products are not tied together at all. The only thing we can guess that might cause this is in some past versions of the products, the InstallShield UNINSTALL program was set to be removed somehow that should not happen. We have studied our current InstallShield codes extensively and find no connection at all today.
Install the misbehaving programs again and they should run.
