Microstudio version?
What version of Microstudio are you running? If it is less than 2.315 it will not recognize 24x or 40x CDR drives.
Assuming you have 2.315, if Microstudio does not recognize the drive for CDG work it doesn't matter what TDK says... the hardware/software pair will not work.
TDK buys their drives from several different manufacturers; they do not manufacture the drive mechanism. Some of their drives in the past have worked with Microstudio for CDG. Recently we removed them from our list of "possible" drives because of too many reported problems; some users with a TDK were working fine, others were not. We were able to discern there was a different drive mechanism in each.
