What version of Hoster are you running?
Click Help menu > About Hoster to see this and post it back here.
Read about the "Remove Imported Tracks" check box in the Import Hard Drive Files screen. That might explain some.
As to your edited note, if you are now importing the .zips, and they show as HDZIP but error out when you play, they are probably zipped using "Max Compression", which there is little support for in the industry... it is a pure custom compression that gives so little additional compression from the standard that it is worthless.
How did you get these zip files?
