Can't say from a programming standpoint, but had no adverse effects deleting the MARK SONG .txt file.
First I deleted the entire file and experienced no problems importing a track or playing.
Then I set up a new .txt file with two songs in it, highlighted and deleted just one of the entries, also with no problems.
