Thumbs up using mstudio on laptop from hard drives

Hi,--------- running mstudio on laptop and hard drives??

I have the full suite of karaoke software. (version 2.303 on Mstudio,WIN98).

On my laptop, Microstudio won't recognize any valid drives (says no audio card).
But if I plug in my USB sony then it works. below is what I am doing, but would prefer
not have to carry my usb cd-g drive with me.

is there "patch of some sort" so i can fool the software to assume I have a valid cd-g drived ?? or will the newer version work???, or get it to run without looking for valid dries??

All I want this for, is playing from my laptop hard drives that has all the CDG's on it
already-- I use my desktop for other cdg work.

I have an HP 800mz laptop with dual mode video (TV out), 256 meg memory and
CD drive.
I have all my CD's and CDG's on 2, 160 gig Maxtor USB drives.
Everything works great, except that I have to start-up Microsoft studio using my
USB-sony CD-r drive. After starting Mstudio, I then unplug the sony and plug in
my other drive. Now I can play karaoke, or play mp3/cd files by keeping both
open. I run these through my through my 2000 watt KJ/DJ system.
TV output mode works fine (640 by 480) , however if Mstudio closes, I have to
unplug one of the usb's hard drives and plug back in my sony so a drive is
recognized.------- also, I would like not to have to carry the sony around.
Any help would be appreciated.
