If you are running winamp (and presumably other audio programs) regardless of whether hoster is open or closed and you change the volume on winamp while it is playing you will change the wave slider as well. If you turn the volume slider all the way down your wave slider too will go all the way to zero.

The WinAmp volume is independent of the WAV slider. Check it out.
