The majority of mine were lasers, so this was the only route. However, for pretty much all of the VCDs I had, I was able to just put the VCD in the DVD drive of my computer, go to the directory that housed the video files, then copy them directly to my PC. If they didn't have a .mpg extension, I just renamed them. This even worked for the multi-plexed VCDs - it appears that the vocal portions of the songs are stored in a different directory rather than as part of the song itself. Hope this helps.
