If you are running a computer off of a generator, I would recommend to have a small ups on the computer. Voltage spikes can play heck with the Computer, even cause freeze ups, and damage to the computer. The amps, and such should be ok.
as far as generator size this depends on how much power you are running, For me a 4000 watt generator would be sufficient.
