Re: hoster shutdown

Could the vents be getting blocked at your gig where as there not at home? On my laptop (which I don't use for karaoke) there's only about a 1/4" clearence between the exhaust fan on the bottom and the table. If this gets blocked you can over heat, same with the intake vents on the side. It might not be a bad idea to rest the laptop on a couple of short pieces of 1x2 to make it easier for the computer exhaust excess heat.

I use two shuttles that sit in my equip rack, and the only time I had problems like you describe I discovered I forgot to open the back of the rack to let out exhausted hot air.

Heat is a mortal enemy of electronics, even if the heat is not sufficient to cause the item to shutdown it will over time cause components to fail prematurly , which is why you'll find that many businesses that have a "computer room" air condition it to the point of being uncomfortably cold.

Another possibility is a bad power supply. One of my shuttles would shutdown and try to reboot at totally random times, sometimes after 5 minutes, sometimes after 5 hours and sometimes after 2 weeks. I struggled with this for several months untill I replaced the power supply and have'nt had a problem since (about 8 months now).

Hope this helps.
Sam
