I wouln't think of downloading anyone's personal disc, for the same reason I won't copy my hard earned collection or anyone elses collection though I've been approached hundreds of times to do so by my competitors.
Those of you who have been with MTU very long, and spent much time in our Forums, KNOW that we go OVERBOARD ( ) to insure you are legal in every way we can control. I assure you this is to our detriment as there are MANY who want to do what they want, legal or not. A recent customer "discovered" that KMA files won't play on Winamp Pro and other free players, and had his money willingly refunded.

We spent a LOT of time to provide the Playlist screen's Add Track group CDG button, which is for playing tracks from a singer's disc. The old way we did this was to import into a bank of RAM (yep... 30MB-60MB per song), and only allowed up to 4 songs (yep... 160MB RAM was allocated for this when Hoster ran ). However this had many drawbacks.

Our current Add CDG Track function does import the track as a file. However, you won't know where we save them, or their titles. They are intentionally prevented from being added into the Songs Database. They are automatically deleted when:
  1. The song finishes playing

  2. Hoster is closed normally

  3. You delete the Playlist entry for that track/file

They are NOT deleted if the computer (or Hoster) crashes. In this SINGLE case, these files are retained and are still in your Playlist and playable when you bring Hoster back up.

I can't tell you how much time we spend on things like this. Tell your patrons that Hoster is ENGINEERED to encourage you to be legal.

However... if you use the Import screen to bring the tracks in, and add them to your Songs Database, you are doing an illegal act. Your choice. It is a slight inconvience for your repeat singers, but it is the law! I suggest you use the right tool that MTU has provided you with... Add CDG Track in the Playlist screen.
