won't duplicate disks

Just purchased microstudio after testing with the demo download-everything works fine-burned the demo disk and all that. set up the full version and when i try to duplicate a disk-it tells me to choose a "reading drive"- my working drive is highlighted (the only one) in both reading a nd writing drive boxes-but it keeps telling me to select a drive. I hit ok and keep getting the same message and can go no further. What's up? also installed the full version, removed the demo and it screwed up the full version and i had to reload it. does this count as a reload if my pc crashes later?
After writing this post I returned to microstudio-jiggled with the "select disk format" (chose audio cd then returned to cd-g selection and tried again. it shuffled the drives around and starting working just fine-maybe a glitch that could be corrected? still would like an answer to the second question ( i removed the demo through control panel add-remove programs, if that helps. thanks
